How many games can one team play in a 24-team double elimination bracket?

From 2 to 11. A team that loses its first two games is out after two; the longest run is 11 games, for a team that drops early, wins its way through the losers bracket and then takes the grand final and the rematch.

When is game 47, the if-necessary final, played?

Only when the losers-bracket team wins game 46, the grand final. The winners-bracket champion then has its first loss too, so game 47 decides the 24-team title. If the winners-bracket team wins game 46, the tournament ends there.

How does the losers bracket fill up with 24 teams?

Every winners-bracket loser drops down: 8 teams after winners round 1, 8 after winners round 2, 4 after winners round 3, 2 after winners round 4 and 1 after the winners final. The 7 losers-bracket rounds whittle them to one team, which meets the unbeaten winners-bracket champion in the grand final.
