When is game 25, the if-necessary final, played?

Only when the losers-bracket team wins game 24, the grand final. The winners-bracket champion then has its first loss too, so game 25 decides the 13-team title. If the winners-bracket team wins game 24, the tournament ends there.

How does the losers bracket fill up with 13 teams?

Every winners-bracket loser drops down: 5 teams after winners round 1, 4 after winners round 2, 2 after winners round 3 and 1 after the winners final. The 6 losers-bracket rounds whittle them to one team, which meets the unbeaten winners-bracket champion in the grand final.

How long does a 13-team double elimination tournament take?

With one-hour games on two fields, about 14 hours, or 15 hours if the if-necessary game is played. One field means 24 to 25 hours back to back; four fields cut it to 9 hours.
